Privacy policy

Effective November 3, 2026

The short version:

What we collect

What we count, and how

We count a few things so we can see which kinds of stories readers find useful and tell advertisers how much traffic the site gets. Everything is kept as totals only:

So that one person clicking twice doesn't count twice, the server briefly remembers a scrambled, one-way code made from your IP address and browser type. It is held in memory for 10 minutes, never written to disk, and never connected to your name, email or account. Automated visitors such as search engines are not counted. We do not build profiles of readers or follow you to other websites.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work:

No advertising, analytics or social media cookies.

Who else handles your information

We never sell or share your information with anyone for their own use. A few companies run parts of the site for us and handle information only to do that job:

We use AI to help sort and rank stories. It is given only the public headline and summary of each news story, never any information about our readers.

We would disclose information only if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.

When you leave for a story

Story links take you to the publisher's own website, which has its own privacy practices. Your browser may tell that site you came from Orthos Watch.

Keeping and deleting your information

Children

Orthos Watch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. We will not start selling or sharing your information.
